As Senior Legal Counsel Finance (m/f/d), you will act as a trusted legal partner to senior stakeholders across SEFE, providing pragmatic and commercially focused advice on a broad range of Finance-related legal matters. You will independently manage complex transactions, negotiations and projects, helping the business navigate legal and regulatory requirements while supporting sound commercial decision-making and governance.

This is a senior individual contributor role offering significant autonomy, stakeholder exposure and the opportunity to shape legal approaches and frameworks across the SEFE Group.

WHAT WILL YOU DO

• Take ownership of complex Finance-related legal, regulatory and compliance matters for SEFE GmbH and its direct and indirect subsidiaries.
• Advise executives, senior leaders and business stakeholders on legal risks, strategic options and commercial implications, translating complex issues into clear and actionable guidance.
• Draft, review and negotiate a range of high-value Finance agreements and legal instruments, independently steering negotiations through to conclusion.
• Provide legal advice on corporate governance matters, including articles of association, by-laws, resolutions and board documentation.
• Lead complex and, where applicable, multi-jurisdictional transactions, projects and regulatory matters, ensuring compliance with applicable legal and internal governance requirements.
• Provide Finance-related legal advice to organizational units and subsidiaries across the SEFE Group.
• Represent SEFE before relevant authorities, courts, shareholder and supervisory bodies and industry forums, where required.
• Manage relationships with external legal counsel, including scope, selection, budget and quality of delivery.
• Lead complex, cross-functional legal projects, coordinating stakeholders and driving matters towards effective outcomes.
• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of legal policies, processes and templates across the function.
• Provide senior legal input on entity governance and related structural matters within the scope of the role.
• Share your expertise by mentoring and providing day-to-day guidance to Legal Counsels and project team members, without formal line management responsibility.

WHAT WILL YOU BRING

• Two German State Examinations in Law (1. und 2. Juristisches Staatsexamen), mandatory.
• Senior-level legal experience gained within an international law firm and/or international in-house legal department, with experience handling complex, cross-border and business-critical matters.
• Strong legal expertise in Finance law, particularly in areas such as:
  • intra-group and external loan agreements
  • syndicated loan agreements based on LMA standards
  • loan security agreements and collateral
  • trade finance agreements
  • receivables financing
  • related accounting matters
• Broader expertise across relevant areas of law, such as corporate, commercial, regulatory, capital markets, trading or infrastructure.
• Proven experience independently leading complex negotiations and finalising sophisticated legal documentation.
• Strong analytical judgement and a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach, with the ability to balance legal risk and commercial objectives.
• The confidence to work autonomously on complex matters involving significant regulatory, financial or strategic considerations.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to advise and influence senior stakeholders.
• Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to effectively prioritise and deliver under time pressure.
• The ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively across functions and jurisdictions.
• Fluent written and spoken English and German.
