WHAT WILL YOU DO
- Design, build and maintain robust data pipelines ingesting data from operational systems, APIs, files and third‑party platforms.
- Implement batch and near‑real‑time data ingestion patterns with resilient error handling and monitoring.
- Manage workflow orchestration and scheduling (e.g., Airflow), including dependencies, retries, alerts and performance optimisation.
- Design and maintain data models for analytics, reporting and operational needs, following best‑practice standards.
- Work across development, test and production environments, supporting controlled deployments and CI/CD practices.
- Improve platform performance, stability and cost efficiency.
- Apply data quality checks, validation rules, metadata and lineage to ensure transparency and trust in data.
- Collaborate closely with analysts, architects and engineering teams to deliver end‑to‑end data solutions.
- Participate in planning, estimation and delivery of data engineering tasks.
- Support incident resolution relating to data pipelines and data availability.
WHAT WILL YOU BRING
Skills & Experience (Essential)
- Strong experience building and maintaining pipelines in modern data platforms.
- Solid understanding of data modelling concepts and best‑practice patterns.
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow).
- Strong SQL and Python capability.
- Hands‑on experience with Azure-based data platforms (e.g., Synapse, ADF).
- Experience working across multiple environments with version control.
- Understanding of data quality, reliability and operational best practices.
- Familiarity with CI/CD approaches for data engineering.
Desirable
- Experience supporting analytics and reporting use cases in production.
- Exposure to regulated or data‑sensitive environments.
