Job Description
Settlements Analyst

IN SHORT

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Settlements Analyst to join our Trading Operations team. This role is responsible for the accurate and timely settlement of a diverse range of energy trading products, including Power, Gas, Environmental Products, Green Certificates, Derivatives and FX transactions.

Working closely with Front Office, Risk, Finance, Treasury, Legal, Credit and IT teams, you will play a key role in ensuring operational excellence, maintaining strong counterparty relationships, and driving continuous process improvements across the settlements function.

WHAT WILL YOU DO

As a key member of the Settlements team, you will take ownership of the end-to-end settlement lifecycle, ensuring trades are accurately validated, invoiced, reconciled and settled. You will work closely with traders, counterparties and internal stakeholders to resolve issues, mitigate operational risk and ensure all contractual obligations are met.

  • Validate trade data and settlement calculations to ensure transactions are processed accurately and in line with contractual terms.
  • Perform daily cashflow, position and invoice reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies with internal teams and counterparties.
  • Monitor settlement deadlines and payment schedules, ensuring all obligations are met accurately and on time.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for settlement-related queries, investigating breaks, resolving disputes and communicating outcomes to relevant stakeholders.
  • Support the launch of new products, counterparties and markets by defining settlement processes, testing system changes and ensuring operational readiness.

WHAT WILL YOU BRING

You will bring proven experience within energy trading operations, along with the technical knowledge, attention to detail and stakeholder management skills needed to ensure the accurate and timely settlement of complex transactions. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, you'll be a proactive problem-solver who can collaborate effectively across the business while continuously seeking opportunities to improve processes and controls.

  • Proven experience in settlements, trade operations, invoicing or trade support, ideally within an energy trading environment.
  • Strong understanding of energy trading products, including Power, Gas, Environmental Products, Renewable Certificates, Derivatives and FX transactions, together with familiarity with trading systems such as Endur.
  • Excellent analytical and reconciliation skills, with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality work under tight deadlines.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with traders, counterparties and cross-functional teams across the business.
  • A proactive and commercially minded approach, combined with strong organisational skills, sound judgement and a passion for driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
