IN SHORT
The Senior Developer has multiple responsibilities within the organization. Their time is broken down to software delivery and junior developer coaching responsibilities. Software delivery responsibilities will vary over time but are focused on the technical leadership, design and development of applications used in the trade lifecycle. It is expected that a Senior Developer will work on a portfolio of different software products during their time in the organization and will coach different individuals in their career.
WHAT WILL YOU DO
In this role, you will work closely with the Vertical Leads across Delivery, Technical, QA, Architecture, and Functional areas to ensure the successful delivery of work within the timelines agreed with the business. Building strong relationships will be key, as you will liaise with and support stakeholders from across the end-user community, ensuring their needs are understood and met.
You will collaborate with the Technical and Architecture Leads to support the engineering of a diverse portfolio of applications, ensuring that all work adheres to established design best practices. A critical part of the role will involve understanding technical dependencies with other applications and teams, and working with Lead Developers and Architects to implement the correct technical solutions.
Consistency in architecture and design will be central to your responsibilities. You will work alongside the Architecture team to help shape and influence these principles, as well as ensure that robust code reviews are carried out, either personally or by the wider team.
• Work with the Vertical Tech Lead and Architects to identify technical debt and ensure that it is addressed and communicated to key stakeholders such that it can be dealt with as part of the BAU process. Promote the consistency of development technologies across our teams improving the overall landscape in the best interests of SEFE.
• Work with the Architects to create and deliver technology roadmaps for the software solutions, aligning them with the technology roadmap and Architecture principles for the department
• Contribute to the software development roadmap, patterns, and principles
• Design, develop and deliver high-quality, test-driven object-orientated software
WHAT WILL YOU BRING
The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in continuous integration and deployment, with exposure to Azure DevOps being particularly advantageous. A solid understanding of design patterns and SOLID principles is essential, along with proven expertise in Microsoft .NET, C#, and WebAPI. Knowledge of OAuth2 would also be highly beneficial.
A strong background in Microsoft SQL Server is required, while familiarity with MongoDB would be an advantage. Experience with the Microsoft BI tech stack, including SQL Server Analysis Services and Integration Services (2016+), SQL Server Reporting Services, or Power BI, would also be desirable.
In addition, knowledge of messaging technologies is essential, with specific experience in RabbitMQ or Kafka considered a plus. Familiarity with SpecFlow and test-driven development (TDD) would be an advantage, as would hands-on experience with modern web UI frameworks such as Vue.js, Angular, or lit-element.
• Ability to work in an everchanging environment, where priorities shift regularly
• Ability to balance ideal solutions with practical delivery of requirements
• Experience within a trading or data intensive organisation required e.g., commodities, financial, betting etc.
• Experience with Endur and its .Net API (Open Components) would be an advantage
