We are looking for a Senior Compliance Manager (m/f/d) / Senior Compliance Counsel (m/f/d) to join our group-wide compliance team. You will be critical to developing, implementing and operating group-wide compliance measures in a fast-moving, international energy environment. With a particular focus on our Trading business, you will act as a trusted advisor to leadership and teams across the business, driving compliance strategy and embedding a culture of integrity.
WHAT WILL YOU DO
- Be critical to the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the group-wide compliance management system, covering prevention, detection and response.
- Provide expert guidance on sanctions compliance, anti-corruption, data protection, supply chain due diligence, know your customer (KYC) and conflicts of interest.
- Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies, processes and training programs across the group.
- Act as a group-wide trusted advisor to senior leadership and business units on compliance, ethics, and risk-related matters.
- Manage internal controls, monitoring activities and whistleblowing processes to ensure effective issue detection and resolution
- Draft, review, and negotiate compliance-related clauses in contracts or support legal colleagues therewith.
- Respond to regulatory or partner requests.
- Liaise with external advisors/service providers and internal stakeholders to implement compliance-related initiatives, including digitalization.
- Promote a culture of integrity and accountability through awareness campaigns and targeted communication.
- Monitor regulatory developments and industry best practices to proactively adapt the compliance management system and drive process optimization through data-driven tools and reporting mechanisms.
WHAT WILL YOU BRING
- Degree in Law, Business, or related field.
- Senior-level compliance experience ideally gained in an international energy trading environment.
- Deep expertise across the full compliance spectrum, including financial crime compliance (e.g., anti-corruption, anti-money laundering and fraud prevention), data protection, sanctions, and corporate governance.
- Proven ability to design, implement, and continuously improve compliance management systems, including risk assessments, controls, monitoring, and reporting.
- Strong track record in advising senior stakeholders on complex compliance and ethical matters.
- Experience in developing and delivering compliance policies, training programs, and awareness initiatives.
- In-depth knowledge of managing third-party due diligence and KYC processes and checks.
- Skilled in drafting or reviewing and negotiating compliance-related contractual clauses, ideally within the energy or trading sector.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and project management skills.
- Deep understanding of sanctions compliance is a strong asset.
- Fluent English (spoken and written)
