We are seeking a senior business analyst to join the London Front Office Support team in a hybrid capacity working alongside other BAs within the D&A Delivery Vertical for Trading-IT. Your role will involve supporting front office traders / risk managers and other business users with their tools and applications. Alongside the support aspect you will be driving tactical and strategic improvements across the functional areas related to the front and middle office aspects of the trade lifecycle.
We are looking for someone with detailed knowledge of European Gas, Power and Carbon Markets and the associated trade life cycle.
WHAT WILL YOU DO
In this role, you will be responsible for gathering and analysing business requirements by collaborating closely with key stakeholders to understand their needs. You’ll document these requirements and translate them into clear, actionable technical specifications to support software development or system enhancements.
You’ll also provide technical support to front office traders, risk managers, and other business users, assisting with IT systems and applications, resolving technical issues, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
A key part of the role involves data analysis — working with large datasets, developing analytical models, and creating insightful reports or dashboards using tools such as SQL, Excel, Power BI, or Tableau to support informed decision-making.
Additionally, you’ll contribute to solution design by partnering with developers, architects, and other team members to deliver sustainable, supportable, and scalable solutions that meet both immediate functional needs and long-term business objectives.
• Process Improvement: Identifying areas for process improvement and efficiency gains within the front office operations, proposing and implementing solutions that enhance productivity, reduce operational risks, or optimise trading strategies.
• Stakeholder Management: Collaborating with various stakeholders, including traders, risk managers, operations teams, IT developers, to gather feedback, address concerns, and ensure smooth communication and alignment across different teams.
• Delivery Management: Working Delivery Vertical leads to ensure the backlog of work is delivered and maintained according to priority, following the Kanban methodology.
WHAT WILL YOU BRING
- Strong knowledge of the European Gas and Power Markets, Familiar with the Gas Storage and/or LNG Deal Lifecycle.
- Understanding of Exchange Trading for Energy products.
- Proficient in effectively articulating and eliciting requirements from business and development teams.
- Experience with using ETRM systems and understanding of ETRM data and workflow. Strong ETRM experience is desirable.
- Strong understanding of Front Office risk management practices and the data analytics associated with it.
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas, charting, pivoting, and data imports (SQL, .CSV), VBA skill is desirable.
- Strong SQL skills, encompassing understanding of relational databases.
- Capable of owning and delivering end-to-end functional changes under a high-pressure environment with shifting priorities and often uncertainties
- Experience in leading and mentoring junior members of the team
