IN SHORT
Leading the LNG Financial Trading team you will be responsible for execution and have oversight of all financial/derivative requirements across the LNG physical portfolio as well as building team capabilities. You will hold oversight as well as trading of financial exposures within pre-defined risk framework. You will work with physical teams to identify opportunities, monetise flexibility and risk-manage positions.
WHAT WILL YOU DO
Executing financial orders & hedging needs for the LNG (Physical) Trading team across all assets/indices including European Gas, US Gas, Oil, Financial LNG and freight. You will have extensive knowledge of the markets and able to provide live quotes and advise on Liquidity and execution strategies. Working with the physical team you will assist in developing and implementing trading strategies, hedging and position management, complex structures, new deals and joint value creation opportunities. You will also:
- Understands LNG contractual terms and flexibilities, running portfolio scenarios, and developing and implementing strategies to risk-manage and monetise these flexibilities (e.g. via financial instruments);
- Supports Senior Management with oversight of longer-term structural/portfolio/strategic positions consistent with governance structure and mandates, including developing position management recommendations for management beyond individual trader mandates, such as large or longer term (e.g. >year 2+) flat price or slope hedging;
- Proprietary trading across assets/indices within defined risk parameters; in addition to contributing towards joint P&L targets for the broader team;
- Owning, overseeing and enhancing deal-process and controls for all LNG financial trading activity, including financial trade bookings, validation, reconciliations, position reporting, technical accounting and hedge accounting (“HA”). Understand both the constraints and opportunities of HA framework, and anticipates HA effects of desired trades;
- Collaborates with wider trading organisation (including Gas Trading desk) to coordinate trading positions, identify synergies/overlaps, optimise Group cash/flow liquidity positions ensuring efficient deployment of resources and positions across trading desks beyond LNG.
- Point of contact with mid-and back-office on financial trade process and controls including market risk, product control, trade accounting, technical accounting, and other functions (e.g. IT) on system enhancements and commercial change initiatives;
WHAT WILL YOU BRING
Your extensive experience in physical and financial LNG and associated markets, including European and US Gas, Oil, freight, ideally also such as power, coal, emissions is essential. Understanding of LNG contractual terms and flexibilities, running scenarios and developing strategies to risk-manage and monetise these flexibilities (e.g. via financial instruments) is key to sucess. You will also have;
- Experience in financial trading and execution; effective position tracking (exposures, MTM, MVAR, price history, value identification etc); tracking market dynamics and trends;
- OTC and broker execution experience;
- Strong understanding of hedge accounting concepts and implications;
- Systems, process, controls and best practice experience in a derivative trading environment.
- Pervious experience of managing a team well
