Job Description
Lead Developer

IN SHORT

We’re hiring a Lead Developer to play a pivotal role in both the technical leadership and people management of a high-performing development team. This individual will take ownership of setting the technical direction within the vertical, while remaining hands-on with development and ensuring the stability and reliability of production services. The team’s core focus is on building integration tooling between our trading systems and back-end financial platforms, delivering bespoke solutions in reporting and risk management. With a long-standing, trusted partnership with front-office risk and finance teams, the role requires close collaboration to gather requirements, design, develop, and implement high-impact solutions across the business.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Collaborative Delivery Leadership: Partner with Delivery Leads, Project Managers, and Functional Leads to ensure seamless alignment of engineering deliverables with business priorities, driving on-time and high-quality outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with business stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor and ensuring user needs and feedback are at the heart of solution design and delivery.
  • Technical Vision and Engineering Excellence: Lead the technical direction for a portfolio of applications, championing modern engineering practices, scalable architectures, and continuous improvement within the development team.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Proactively manage technical dependencies and integrations with other teams and platforms, working closely with fellow Lead Developers and Architects to deliver cohesive, future-proof solutions.
  • Technical Advocacy and Knowledge Sharing: Serve as a key point of contact for technical queries and impact assessments, promoting best practices and fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and technical consistency across all engineering teams.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Proactive and Value-Driven Mindset: Demonstrates strong commercial awareness and a focus on delivering business value, consistently identifying opportunities for impactful solutions with minimal oversight.
  • Adaptability in Dynamic Environments: Thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous settings where priorities evolve rapidly, maintaining productivity and a positive outlook in a VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) landscape.
  • Collaborative Relationship Builder: Excels at building and nurturing strong professional relationships across multidisciplinary teams, fostering a culture of trust, knowledge sharing, and collaboration.
  • Clear and Influential Communicator: Communicates complex technical concepts in a clear, engaging manner tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences, ensuring alignment and understanding at all levels.
  • Technical Leadership and Credibility: Demonstrates deep technical expertise and thought leadership, inspiring confidence and respect from peers and direct reports while setting high standards for engineering excellence.
