Business Analyst (Derivatives)

IN SHORT

Based within the SM&T London Office, the BA will work within the Middle & Office Back Office (Derivatives), reporting into the Senior BA.

WHAT WILL YOU DO

This role is responsible for analysis of business requirements and working with developers to test and release solutions.

It is a business facing role so excellent communication and negotiation skills are required while working with all levels of seniority, up to c-suite within front-office trading.

You will be part of a small, respected IT team that provides analytic tooling to a derivatives trading desk. We have a strong relationship with business stakeholders having built up trust over several years of successful delivery. Our team delivers change continuously with multiple releases per week and we are now looking for a Business Analyst to join a friendly team with growing responsibility.

 

The role requires someone to work with derivatives traders and IT to:

  • Define requirements, propose solutions, broker decisions and achieve consensus.
  • Work with developers to deliver those requirements and support UAT
  • Assist in providing third-line support to traders.
  • Work closely with front office to ensure use of IT is delivering revenue, and to manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Identify improvements and recommend solutions to stakeholders.

WHAT WILL YOU BRING

  • Good understanding of Python (or other language) and SQL 
  • Ability to work with large and complex data sets
  • Comfortable with interfacing with mathematical models
  • Some skills in use of an ETRM and an understanding of the trade lifecycle would be highly regarded.
  • Self-starter/able to work with limited guidance
  • Team-player with ability to achieve results through shared initiatives
  • Able to understand complex business issues and specify IT solutions
  • Demonstrable experience of coordinating and delivering complex projects/initiatives within agile delivery.
  • Able to meet tight deadlines and negotiate in a pressurised environment
  • Strong facilitation and influencing skills
  • Excellent communication skills e.g. written, verbal and presentation
  • Able to cope with rapid business growth and a pressurised environment
  • Motivated, tenacious and pro-active in achieving results
  • Diligent and dependable with strong integrity
