IN SHORT
In SEFE’s decarbonisation product‑development, you serve as a engineering point of reference for CO₂ pipelines and associated facilities. As part of SEFE’s Infrastructure technical unit, you apply CO₂ pipeline and facilities expertise to implement SEFE’s integrated low‑carbon strategy. You deliver decision‑grade reviews and recommendations, articulate SEFE’s engineering position externally, and strengthen standards and assurance. Serve as the technical counterpart for customers, industry bodies and associations; translate requirements into technically and commercially viable CO₂ transport solutions and coordinate the integration of SEFE Group and external engineering capacity. Mentor engineers and support capability building and knowledge transfer.
The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in CO₂ systems, natural-gas and/or oil & gas pipeline/facilities engineering, communicates clearly, and delivers decision-grade advice in early-phase development.
WHAT WILL YOU DO
- Technical advisory & reviews: Act as an engineering reference point for CO₂ pipeline engineering; coordinate option assessments and independent feasibility and concept reviews; issue recommendations and technical notes. Lead group‑wide engineering mentoring and technical coaching across the SEFE Group.
- Technology scouting & assessment: Identify and assess technology developments in relevant areas; evaluate applicability and value for SEFE’s decarbonisation product‑development.
- BoD & design premises: Contribute to and maintain technical frameworks (Basis of Design), design premises and the assumptions register for concept/definition phases in SEFE’s decarbonisation product‑development processes.
- Interfaces & external representation: Coordinate technical inputs with internal functions and SEFE group entities; represent SEFE in standards and expert committees (DIN, CEN, DVGW, etc.), industry associations and technical conferences.
WHAT WILL YOU BRING
- Advanced degree in Process/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Several years’ experience in pipeline/facilities engineering with a strong record in feasibility and concept phases (CO₂, natural‑gas networks and/or O&G) including cost-estimation methods (e.g., AACE Class 5–3).
- Advanced process‑engineering expertise in e.g. multi‑phase flows; EOS selection/calibration; conditioning (dehydration, impurity specification, liquefaction and phase management); compression/expansion and depressurisation/blowdown analysis; control and safeguarding design.
- Knowledge of relevant codes/standards (e.g. DNV/DVGW/ISO/EN) and safety studies (HAZID/HAZOP); confident producing decision‑grade documentation and recommendations.
- Proven ability to engage credibly with external (e.g. Engineering Advisers, EPCs, standardization organizations) and internal (SEFE departments and Group companies) technical stakeholders and to communicate clearly with engineering audiences.
- Ability to translate customer needs into technically and commercially viable solutions and to prepare credible offers.
- Excellent German and good English, spoken and written.
ABOUT US
Securing Energy for Europe – it’s a simple statement, with a bold ambition. SEFE is not just our name, but also encompasses everything that drives us. To accomplish this, we’re taking immediate action to secure gas supply – but also looking forward, to explore our role in the European energy transformation and how we can contribute to a stable and sustainable future.
SEFE, an international energy company, ensures the security of supply and drives the decarbonisation of its customers. SEFE’s activities span the energy value chain, from origination and trading to sales, transport, and storage. Through its decades-long expertise in trading and the development of its LNG business, SEFE has become one of the most important suppliers to industrial customers in Europe, with an annual sales volume of 200 TWh of gas and power. Its 50,000 customers range from small businesses to municipalities and multinational organisations. By investing in clean energies and especially in the hydrogen ecosystem, SEFE is contributing to the energy transition. The company employs around 2,000 people globally and is owned by the Federal Government of Germany.
Our international teams work across locations in Europe, Asia, and North America. We’re passionate about energy and the important role it can play in shaping a better future.
Securing energy – now and for the future.
