Entity Accountant (m/f/d)

IN SHORT

The role is responsible for accurate and timely accounting, financial reporting, and compliance for one or more legal entities. The role ensures transactions are recorded in line with accounting standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements. As part of the finance team, the Entity Accountant collaborates with cross-functional partners, supports audits, strengthens internal controls, and drives process improvements, while ensuring compliance with local GAAP, IFRS group policies, and timely month-end close.

WHAT WILL YOU DO

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reporting packages for entities and sub-groups, ensuring compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide clear and well-founded explanations of financial variances and material transactions.
  • Committee Materials: Provide accurate financial analysis and support preparation of clear, relevant materials for internal committees.
  • Accounting Standards & Projects: Assist in applying accounting standards, assessing financial impacts, and supporting projects such as entity onboarding and data migration.
  • Controls & Process Improvements: Ensure accurate reporting through established controls, and contribute to process improvements, harmonisation, and automation.
  • Reporting Calendar: Deliver reporting tasks according to the calendar, manage timelines, and communicate progress or delays promptly.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct structured analyses, explain variances, and support business decisions with reliable insights.
  • Policies & Alignment: Apply accounting policies and account assignment guidelines, ensuring consistency and escalating issues where needed.
  • Audit Support: Prepare audit documentation, respond to inquiries, and participate in discussions under guidance.

WHAT WILL YOU BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Controlling, Business Administration or similar or equivalent education or similar qualification
  • Experienced Accountant post qualification, ideally in energy sector.
  • Hands-on experience working with complex accounting topics and corresponding process landscape.
  • Strong understanding of German GAAP and other local GAAP, if required, as well as IFRS accounting and reporting and core financial accounting control principles.
  • Proactive and decisive mindset, with experience working to tight timescales.
  • Stakeholder management experience as a plus, both within and across units, as well as senior management/parent/shareholder and auditor based.
  • Thrives in a high-pressure environment with challenging deadlines.
  • Highly motivated and proactive individual and team player.
  • Diligent and dependable, approaching work with an attention to detail.
  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as being an effective member of a team.
  • Solid understanding of business processes and controls, ability to analyse and identify improvements.
  • Strong desire to learn and develop professionally and take a willingness to share expertise and develop others.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
