Job Description
VP Security Platforms & Architecture (m/f/d)

IN SHORT

The VP Security Platforms & Architecture is responsible for defining how security platforms, identity and access management (IAM), and security architecture are designed, governed, and evolved across the organisation. This role owns the security technology roadmap, architectural standards, IAM capability, and platform decisioning, ensuring alignment with security strategy, enterprise architecture, regulatory expectations, and investment priorities.

Operating with enterprise-wide accountability, this role acts as the authoritative design and product owner for security platforms, while remaining hands-on in driving delivery, maturity, and architectural integrity in an environment where platforms, ownership boundaries, and operating models are still evolving.

WHAT WILL YOU DO

  • Lead the definition and execution of the security technology roadmap, covering security platforms, IAM capabilities, and architectural controls aligned to strategy, regulation, and investment priorities.
  • Act as the design authority and decision owner for security platforms, including identity, access governance, and core tooling, with accountability for platform selection, replacement, and major configuration changes.
  • Define, establish, and enforce enterprise security architecture principles, standards, and design patterns, providing clear challenge and decision-making across cloud, applications, infrastructure, and platforms.
  • Own and mature the enterprise IAM capability, including identity lifecycle management, RBAC/ABAC models, and privileged access governance across human and non-human identities.
  • Define and enforce a clear operating model with Infrastructure & Operations, where Security owns requirements, architectural standards, and approvals, and I&O operates platforms in line with those controls.
  • Set direction for logging, telemetry, and platform integration, ensuring alignment with Security Operations requirements while maintaining clear ownership boundaries.
  • Drive hands-on maturity improvements across security platforms and IAM, establishing baselines, control standards, and integration patterns where operating models are not yet fully defined.
  • Provide oversight of platform health, resilience, and risk, including technical debt, control effectiveness, and readiness for Security Operations and incident response.
  • Ensure that security platforms, IAM, and architectural controls meet regulatory, audit, and assurance expectations, supporting audits and driving remediation of control weaknesses.

WHAT WILL YOU BRING

  • Qualifications in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Advanced qualifications in Information Security, Cybersecurity Management, Systems Engineering, or Enterprise Architecture are desirable.
  • Deep expertise in security architecture and modern technology environments, including cloud, network, identity, and application security.
  • Strong track record embedding secure-by-design and secure-by-default principles across complex technology estates.
  • Proven ability to assess architectures against threat intelligence, resilience needs, and regulatory expectations.
  • Strong analytical capability, with experience identifying systemic risks, architectural weaknesses, and technical debt.
  • Experience acting as a security design authority, confidently challenging, guiding, and approving architectural decisions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively across Architecture, Engineering, Security Operations, and delivery teams.
  • Clear and pragmatic communicator, able to translate complex security topics into actionable guidance for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A leadership style that is pragmatic, authoritative, and collaborative, with strong ownership, attention to detail, and a focus on continuous improvement.
