The role ensures the company’s compliance with regulatory and license obligations while identifying and managing commercial risks from regulatory changes in core markets. It involves building relationships with regulators, participating in industry governance, and advising on strategic regulatory matters to protect commercial interests. The role also keeps internal stakeholders informed on regulatory developments to support strategic decision-making and compliance.
WHAT WILL YOU DO
- Understand, evaluate and advise on all relevant regulatory and policy issues ensuring SEFE Energy remains compliant with legal and regulatory requirements; support business teams in effectively implementing new regulations
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities for our sales activities resulting from regulatory changes in the energy market and inform internal stakeholders on new requirements
- Ensure the SEFE Groups long term and strategic interests by helping to navigate through regulatory risk with horizon scanning, impact analysis and by actively representing positions on key regulatory policy and changes
- Participate in key industry working groups and represent SEFE at a senior level on industry governance bodies with the aim to safeguard our commercial interests
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, in particular Regulators, influencing the external regulatory environment
- Define and help develop the strategic regulatory direction by understanding regulatory change and communicating effectively within the business
- Set up and manage the implementation of reporting requirements relevant for the German market and coordinate with internal stakeholders
- Manage SEFE Energy's responses to consultations and RFIs from regulatory bodies
- Support business teams in effectively implementing new regulations and ensure the compliance of the business with regulatory requirements
WHAT WILL YOU BRING

You hold a master’s degree or an equivalent higher education qualification in a relevant field — such as energy and utilities, politics, economic and behavioral sciences (e.g., Economic Behaviour & Governance), economics, or business

You have professional experience in regulatory affairs, compliance, or political advisory roles, ideally within the energy or utilities sector

You possess excellent German and English language skills, both written and spoken

You are highly familiar with working with regulatory authorities and industry supervisory bodies

You have experience in analyzing regulatory risks and proactively identifying opportunities and challenges

You advise senior leadership on regulatory and political matters that impact business strategy

You confidently represent the company in external expert committees and industry networks

You work independently, take responsibility, and maintain composure under pressure

You have strong networking skills and build trustworthy relationships both internally and externally

You communicate clearly and persuasively at all organizational levels — verbally and in writing
